Make peace with loneliness

I started joining SL Psychology as a volunteer in mid-January to provide psychological and emotional support to friends in China affected by the COVID-19 epidemic. I heard many stories from ordinary families; some are worried about getting sick; some are worried about family members getting sick; some are worried about their family members working in the hospital; some are depressed and want to commit suicide due to long-term isolation; some have quarrels with family members after staying together for a long time and quarrelsome. No matter where we are, the impact of this pandamic on human physical and mental health cannot be ignored. Loneliness is an important cause of depression, and depression is an important cause of suicidal tendencies. If you cannot adjust your own emotions, it will eventually affect the people around you.

Quick Tapping Method to Eliminate Stress – Emotional Release Techniques

Today I would like to introduce to you the Emotional Freedom Technique (emotional relief technology), which is developed by combining acupuncture points in traditional Chinese medicine, brain science, and positive psychology theories. It is a form of tapping that, over the past 20 years, has been shown to be effective in dealing with depression, various anxieties (such as public speaking), self-confidence, addiction (such as overeating), and chronic pain. Many doctors in the United States recommend EFT as a way to relieve emotions, and they have each developed their own system.

How to choose a counselor that’s right for you? How to find a therapist?

Recently, I have received many calls and emails from people who want consultation. It is not easy for everyone these days. Because of the epidemic, many people are in a transitional period: anxiety about how to get along with their families, the pressure of working from home and raising children at the same time, whether fresh graduates will stay and work, the confusion in the transitional period, etc. People contact me for consultation every day. Many consultants I know, including myself, have a waiting list. So today I want to talk to you about how to choose a psychological counselor that suits you.

Is the psychology of a psychological counselor “healthy”? Do psychotherapists have mental health issues?

First, how do we define “mental health”? Everyone has moments of anxiety and depression at some point in their daily lives. For example, if you fail to catch the bus, you will be late for work, and anxiety will naturally arise. Being able to calm yourself down quickly is an important distinction between “having anxiety” and “suffering from an anxiety disorder”. Therefore, psychological counselors also experience anxiety and depression.

How to get rid of self-doubt and denial? How to stay motivated

Have you ever experienced such a situation? You are often full of motivation and confidence when you start doing everything, but once things don’t go as smoothly as you expected, or the progress is slower than you imagined, you instantly feel like a deflated balloon. Extremely depressed, even experiencing self-doubt and denial? Carol Dweck, a professor of psychology at Stanford University, pointed out that people’s thinking patterns will greatly determine whether we can achieve our goals, gain satisfaction with life, and the ability to achieve happiness.

Our Magic Brain Part 1

The brain structure is a continuous and complex process, which began before we were born. During the first few years of our lives, billions of nerve cells transmit and exchange electric signals to form different circuits and connections. Our experience and environment will also affect the development of our circuits and connections.

Meditation: Perhaps it is possible to solve problems by simply sitting down

I remember my friend asking me this when we were chatting one day, “Meditation? You mean we can solve problems by just sitting down?”. Then I just smiled because it is not something that can be explained in such simple terms. My friend’s question has also reflected a misunderstanding that the majority of people have towards meditation.

Does Astrology Have Any Scientific Basis?

Does Astrology Have Any Scientific Basis?

In conclusion, the reason why astrology has gained such a negative reputation in the scientific and academic fields over the past decades is because the majority of astrologists have emphasized on foretelling and making predictions, rather than focusing on a person’s inner life. Using astrology as a tool for self-development and achievement should be the direction for modern astrology.
